VIRTUAL VISIT TO PUGU HILLS

 ::::   Home  ::::

Google Earth published higher resolution images of Pugu and Kazimzumbwi Forests (early 2006), which are very helpful for conservation measures but also for planning of your hike in the forest.

With the help of overlays from the topographic map of both forests useful references can be obtained. Two overlays are available on this page for Pugu and Kazimzumbwi Forest.

(incase you did not yet download google earth please click on http://dl.google.com/earth/GoogleEarth.exe for a free download)

After downloading the topographic map as an overlay in Google Earth (click on blue link Pugu Hills 3D and Kazimzumbwi Overlay), you will get a view as is illustrated below with tilted view. (The elevations on the image below have been exaggerated in Google earth with factor 3 - menu tools>options>view>elevation exaggeration value)

At the horizon you  see (vaguely) the Uluguru Mountains of Morogoro which are in the West.

Click on Pugu Hills 3D (file size 8.7 Mbytes) for the Pugu Hills area in Google Earth and Kazimzumbwi Overlay (file size 6.0 Mbytes) for the topograhic map of the less visited Kazimzumbwi Forest.

The map wil disappear if you slide the transparency button (above "Layers" Heading) to the right, enjoy your visit.
