Still beautifully located with, a wide view over the coastal plains, Minaki Secondary School is constructed on a farm of a German Missionary settler called Mr. Greiner. A relative sent us a map of the farm dated 16 August 1898. Minaki was during the british colonial days known as St. Andrew's College Minaki (1925 - 1970). After the government took the school over from the anglican church (1967, Arusha Declaration) the name became Minaki Sekondari. Minaki is a swahili name for a tree endemic to the area. |

| Interesting Features on the map are the house of Missionary Mr. Greiner on the right on the tar road from Pugu to Kisarawe at Minaki: | ||
1. Pugu Forest as we know (knew) it has been partly farm land with huts and a school. 2. The 2 storey ruine could be the old farm house of Mr. Greiner 3. Kigogo (-fresh), the village just after crossing the TAZARA railroad line, is already mentioned on the map in 1898. 4. the track along the Pugu Fluss (german for stream) can still be found in the forest. |
